Looking for the quickest and easiest shamrock pattern? You’ve come to the right place! After getting so many requests for a shamrock pattern each year, I’m excited to share my go-to free pattern with you in plenty of time for St. Patrick’s Day. This little shamrock works up so quickly, you’ll want to make dozens!

A Touch of Irish Tradition
Being Irish and living all my life in Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th holds a special place in my heart. While my parents’ generation always wore a sprig of real shamrock on their coats, I found these crochet versions perfect for children. When my kids were young, I created these tiny crochet shamrocks for them and their school friends.
They proudly wore them pinned to their jumpers for school and to the local St. Patrick’s Day parade. I’d find these little green treasures tucked away in school bags for days afterward!Â
This basic crochet shamrock applique is perfect for adding a lucky charm to anything – from hats to bags, or even strung together to make a cheerful crochet shamrock garland for your St. Patrick’s Day decor.

Shamrock Details
I wanted a pattern that worked up quickly and was simple to make. I used DK weight cotton yarn and a 4 mm hook but you can make these shamrocks using any weight yarn and matching hook. Dig through your stash for those different shades of green yarn and get started!
Add a pin to the back, and you’ve got yourself a lovely brooch. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you can make a bunch of these for family and friends.
What You’ll Need

That is lovely to hear!
