I love Large Colorful Crochet Flowers! You can use any scraps of yarn you have in your stash – the more colorful the better! And the centre of my Ragwort Square makes a beautiful crochet floral embellishment.
The added texture of the popcorn stitches makes this Large Crochet Flower Pattern extra special. I also used popcorn stitches for my cheerful crochet sunflowers!
Read on for the easy to follow step by step instructions and picture tutorial.
What to do with Large Crochet Flowers
These large Crochet Flowers work up fast, and are perfect for adding as embellishments to your projects.
- You can add a pin to the back of the flower to make a brooch for a special gift
- One would be beautiful attached to a Summer Hat for a child!
- String a few flowers together for cheerful floral bunting
- These appliques are perfect for many projects including yarnbombing
Best Yarn for Crochet Flowers
I use scraps of DK weight yarn for my flowers, but you can use any yarn weight you wish – just use a matching hook. My favourite yarn for making flowers is a cotton yarn as it washes well, keeps its shape and comes in a huge selection of colors! With excellent stitch definition, cotton yarn is perfect for smaller projects like these crochet flowers.

The big flower I will love as soon as I can figure out row 5. I’m missing something. Can you help me on this row. Thank you.
Hi! Can you let me know exactly what the problem is? Thanks
Sorry, the problem was that I just needed to look at pictures you provided along with your instructions & then I was fine. Love the big flower pattern!
Great to hear! And thank you!
I love this pattern! I just made one in a solid color just to see how the pattern plays out. I also struggled with row 5 until I took the time to read the whole step and try again. I had missed putting the sc in the ch sp at top of pedal.
I have an idea of what I want to do with this pattern. I amgoing to make several of these in the solid color I have and create a shaw for my mother-in-law!
I so love these flowers, thank you very much.
