Crochet Shawl Details

Spindle Shawl uses a lovely open lace crochet stitch, and a bottom-up construction to create this cozy shawl.

The 2-row pattern is easy to memorize, and the interesting edging adds a stylish twist and pop of colour. You can customize the size by simply adding more repeats.

Yarn for Crochet Triangle Shawl

The main body of the shawl uses a worsted weight cotton yarn Stylecraft Monet and the colour-way is Water Lilies (3972). It is a gorgeous speckled cotton yarn with great stitch definition.

I love the heavy weight of cotton yarn in shawls, it gives a wonderful drape, like a cozy hug to wrap around your neck. You may like Alannnah Shawl as your next project!

You can use any worsted weight yarn of your choice to make this shawl. Gauge is not important, just make sure you use a hook size that suits your tension.

I suggest you use a size bigger hook than recommended for your yarn, to give this piece the loose drape it requires.

  1. Love this pattern! So easy and the drape is very fluid. I used Red Heart Super Saver, color Artist print and did not use a contrasting yarn for edging. So ended at row 4 of edging…soon I will make with all row….. ????

  2. Thank you so much for this pattern. I have a whole lot of ripped down 4 ply yarn (from husband’s old jumpers and my cardigans) ready for reuse, but it’s now a lot thinner than the original so I’m using the one strand into three method to ‘thicken’ it up. This pattern looks ideal – the shawl will be warm and cosy, but not overly bulky or heavy. Can’t wait to get started 👏👏👏👏👍
