Colors for a Crochet Flower Pillow

When choosing colors for your flower embellished pillow, consider the existing color scheme of your room. Aim to pick colors that complement or contrast well with your current decor. You can check out this collection for more pillow inspiration: 18 Colorful Crochet pillow Patterns

Bold and bright colors can create a striking focal point. If you have a colorful space, consider softer hues or even monochrome flowers to bring balance.

I have used vintage-inspired shades of coral and yellow for the flowers with accents of brown, sage and cream. Experiment with color combinations that express your personal style!

Measurements

17” square.

I used a standard 17″ pillow that I bought in a local store. Pillow front is attached to a ready made pillow to save time. The flowers are made separately and sewn on to the front. You can use any scraps of cotton yarn for the flowers and leaves.

Gauge

18 sts and 16 rows = 4” [10 cm] in pattern stitch (if you use the yarn in pattern)

Pattern is written in US Crochet terms

Tips for Pillow/Cushion sizes

You can make the pillow front to any size. Make a chain that is approx 2inches smaller than the size you want, making sure you have an uneven number of chains.

For example – if you want to attach your pillow front to a 20″ pillow, make a chain approx 17/18″ long. The border rows will add an additional 1.5-2″ to the piece.

I always like to leave a pillow front slightly smaller than the cushion and stretch it on as I attach it. There is nothing worse than a wrinkled cover!
