They would also look amazing on a bag, a hat or embellishing a baby blanket.

Yarn for Crochet Flower Coasters

This project uses very small amounts of scrap yarn. Cotton yarn works best for these coasters as it is sturdy and washable.

I made my samples in a light sportsweight cotton yarn so my coasters are small (approx 3in across). You can use DK weight or Worsted weight yarn and a matching hook to make yours and the size will increase. Experiment and see what is in your stash!

I suggest for DK weight yarn that you use a 4mm hook. For worsted weight yarn, a 5mm hook would be the best size.

Materials

  • Small amounts of Cotton Yarn and matching hook
  • Yarn used to make these flowers – Scheepjes Catona and a 3mm crochet hook.
  • Yarn Needle to weave in threads
  • Scissors

  1. Hi on your instagram page you have a pink and grey shell still square how do i find the pattern for it please

    1. Hi! I am in the process of writing it up (and I need to take some picture tutorials) so I should have it on the blog in a few days. Thanks so much for your interest!

  2. Cute coaster! The picture seems to show 6 rounds but the pattern has only 5. To my eye round 5 might be sc’s all around? Would love some clarification. Thanks.

    1. Hi! The pattern has 5 rounds. The final round has picots which may appear like an extra round?

  3. In the special stitch section you describe a DC2tog however I don’t see it in the actual pattern. I’m wondering if the second row should have the DCtog instead of 2dc together? thank you, I love this fun pattern!!

    1. Hmm….I see that dc2tog is included in the special stitches but it is not used in the pattern. I do need to update some of my older patterns and I will do this one first! Thank you for pointing that out x

  4. I noticed that, too. One of the pictures shows a round before the picot round. The other pics don’t show that round.
