Crocheting a Solid Granny Square
Solid granny squares are a spin on the classic granny square, but without any holes. By skipping the chain spaces and using treble stitches in the corners, you’ll get a sturdy, solid fabric.
The square uses basic stitches mostly double crochet stitches, making it an easy pattern. The ad-free PDF includes a crochet chart for extra guidance.
This solid square pattern is easily adaptable! While the crochet tutorial covers 4 rounds, you can keep adding any number of rounds to make larger squares, depending on your project needs.
Feel free to experiment with any yarn weight and a matching hook size to create the perfect square for your design.

Quick Word about Blocking Crochet Squares
Blocking your solid squares will give you a neat, polished look. It helps define the corners and edges, making your squares even and much easier to join when making projects like blankets or pillows.
I prefer using blocking mats and pins, as they help the squares lay perfectly flat. However, for smaller squares or quick blocking, I often just use my ironing board and a few pins…..it works great!
