This lightweight triangle shawl is crocheted with 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn and a small amount of contrast yarn for the narrow stripes in a textured puff stitch. Easy to crochet, it’s a fun project with simple construction and playful color details.
The pattern is straightforward, making it a great choice for those who enjoy a relaxing crochet project.
I crocheted this shawl over the summer months, and it was great project to work a few rows when out and about! With just two skeins of fingering weight yarn and a touch of contrasting color, you can create a beautiful classic crochet accessory.

Materials Needed
To create this crochet shawl pattern, you’ll need:
- Main Color (MC): Two skeins of fingering weight yarn, totaling approximately 800 meters. I used the luxurious Townhouse Yarns Fade St – a fingering/4 ply sock blend of 70% merino and 30% silk. I love supporting Irish yarn dyers, so I was thrilled to use this yarn I purchased last year.
- Contrast Color (CC): About 40 grams of fingering weight yarn for the puff stitch accents. This is a great opportunity to dive into your stash; I incorporated small amounts from three mini skeins in different colors.
- Crochet Hook: A 4 mm hook to achieve the desired drape and texture.

Crochet Lightweight Shawl Details
This shawl is worked from the top down, increasing along each side and in the center to form a wide wingspan of approximately 72 inches. The pattern uses basic crochet stitches. You will be mainly using double crochet stitches with a mesh stitch row to break it up. This creates an airy and elegant fabric.
Every eight rows you will work a textured puff stitch row in the contrast color, adding visual interest and a touch of whimsy to the overall design.
To keep track of the center point it’s helpful to place a stitch marker in the center chain-1 space, moving it up with each row. I’ve included stitch counts at the end of each row to help you stay on track. I found them essential while making this shawl!
