Wild Cherry is a Cozy Crochet Blanket Scarf that can also be worn as an elegant Wrap draped on your shoulders. It is made in glorious rich colours that will be a welcome addition to your wardrobe. This easy to wear rectangular shawl is worked in a four-row repeat crochet pattern, and it’s easy to customize for your perfect size.

The yarn used is a self-striping soft DK weight yarn called Bramble from King Cole which comes in 6 lovely colours. The yarn is soft and smooth to use and works up quickly to create lovely accessories. The long colour runs in the striping yarn make it perfect for crochet.

Inspiration for Blanket Scarf
I wanted to make a cozy large scarf that would also be perfect as a wrap to add a pop of colour. I used a lace crochet pattern that is interesting to crochet but also easy enough to work on while chatting or watching TV……….the kind of pattern I love!
We took the pictures on a windy cold day in Ireland and the colours of the yarn look amazing against the Winter sky.

Yarn for Crochet Blanket Scarf
The pattern uses 3 balls of Bramble from King Cole and a 4.5mm Crochet hook. You can use approx. 800 – 1000m of any DK weight yarn or yarn weight of your choice and matching hook. I have included a picture tutorial to help you.

Notes (read carefully)
- Pattern uses US crochet terms, and you can find UK terms in Abbreviations
- Stitch Multiple for foundation row is a multiple of 6 ch plus 2
- Gauge is not important. To achieve a light drape tension, I suggest make a swatch of the first 5 rows and see what hook size works best for you.
- The size of the wrap is easily adjustable. Chain to the width you wish your wrap to be using the multiple given.
- You can adjust the length by crocheting fewer or more rows of the repeat

Final Row: Ch 1, * 1 sc in next ch-1 sp of next fan shell, ch 1, skip next ch-1 sp, 1 sc in next ch-1 sp **, ch 3; rep from * across row, ending last rep at **, ch 1, 1 sc in last st. Fasten off.

Finishing
Weave in all loose ends. You may like to block your scarf. Soak in lukewarm water and gently wring in a towel. Lay project out to finished size and pull gently into shape. Pin in place and leave to dry. Add fringing if you wish.
Fringing
Cut lengths of yarn approx.10-12” long. I used 12 fringing lengths for each side (total of 24) You will need 20 lengths of yarn for each fringe piece, depending on how thick you want your fringe. Fold each piece in half and attach evenly to both ends of the scarf.

Your recipe is great. I really like.
I would like to make this a little wider, what is the pattern repeat please! I have made the halo shawl, which was a big hit for my friend. Time for one for me too! I might even surprise my friend with one as she has been such a huge support to me over the last year while we have been battling lockdowns, a very busy work schedule and breast cancer for me! Glad to say, I have won that battle!
I am delighted for you Elizabeth! I am sure your wonderful friend will appreciate her shawl xx
