Yarn for a One Skein Crochet Shawl Pattern

You can use any type of yarn for a crochet shawl, but fingering weight yarn and gradient yarn cakes are two popular choices for one skein projects.

Fingering weight yarn typically comes in 400-meter skeins, while gradient yarn cakes can be anywhere from 800 to 1000 meters. When choosing yarn for a one skein shawl, it is important to match your crochet hook to the yarn’s recommended size.

You can always check the ball band for this information.
