The weather recently has been very windy, so taking pictures was getting frustrating, so I decided to embrace the wind.

Yarn and Details for Triangle Crochet Shawl

Yarn is one cake of Dolce Cashmere in Rainbow, and I loved using it to crochet this triangle shawl. The yarn is so soft and feels like butter as you work it…….the fibre content is wool and cashmere!

800 – 1000m of your favourite gradient yarn is all that is needed to make this light and lacy triangle shawl. A wide wingspan to curl around your neck and shoulders.

An easy/intermediate make using sc, dc, puff stitches and chains, that will keep your interest as you crochet.

Materials

• 4mm hook
• 1 skein Hobbii Dolce Cashmere: 65% superwash virgin wool, 25% polyamide, 10% cashmere/770m (842 yds)/ 200g
• Marker for centre stitch
• You can use any fingering/4 ply weight yarn of your choice to make this shawl. You will need approx. 800m – 1000m of yarn to make a shawl as large as I made mine. But you can stop at the size you require.
• You could also use a heavier weight yarn and matching hook, and stop when your shawl is large enough.

Skill Level

This is an easy/intermediate level pattern. You must be familiar with basic crochet stitches and techniques. Directions written so that they are easy to read and follow. I have included some tips, and photos of the first 6 rows to guide you. Please read Special Stitches and Notes before you start. Once you have the repeat pattern established, enjoy making this fast, relaxing pattern!

Notes

• Pattern is a triangle shawl worked top-down
• 4-row repeat pattern
• At the end of rows 1 – 6, you will see a stitch count in italics for that row. I included how many ch-3 and ch-4 spaces were in the row also. This will help you keep track until you are familiar with the pattern
• I suggest you place a marker in the centre sc and centre ch-3 until you are familiar with the pattern
• Ch 7 at the beginning of a row counts as 1 dc and ch 4
• Ch 3 at the beginning of a row counts as 1 dc
• Read instructions for Puff Stitch carefully. There is an extra yarn over (YO) at the end of the stitch
• Gauge is not important

85in (216cm) length x 38in (96.5cm) depth

Special Stitches

Puff Stitch (PS) – YO and insert hook in indicated space and pull up a loop to the height of a hdc, (yo and insert hook in same sp and pull up a loop) 2 more times, yo and pull through 6 loops, leaving 2 loops on hook, yo and pull through last 2 loops

Puff Shell – (1 PS, ch 1, 1 PS, ch 1, 1 PS)

PM – place marker

Instructions for Romantic Lacy Crochet Shawl

Using 4mm hook make an adjustable ring (magic ring)

Row 1: Ch 7 (counts as 1 dc, ch 4 here and throughout), [1 dc, ch 3, 1 dc, ch 4, 1 dc] into ring, turn – 4 dc, 1 x ch-3, 2 x ch-4

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc here and throughout), Puff Shell (see special stitches) into first ch-4 sp, 1 sc into ch-3 sp (place a marker in sc to show centre of shawl), Puff Shell into next ch-4 sp, 1 dc in 3^rd ch of beg ch 7, turn – 2 Puff Shells, 2 dc, 1 sc, 4 x ch-1 sp

Row 3: Ch 7, 1 sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, 1 sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, [1 dc, ch 3,1 dc] in centre sc (marker placed on previous row), ch 3, 1 sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, 1 sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 4, 1 dc in 3^rd ch of beg ch 3, turn – 4 dc, 4 sc, 5 x ch-3, 2 x ch-4

Row 4: Ch 7, 1 sc in ch-4 sp, ch 3, * 1 sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3; rep from * to last ch-4 sp, 1 sc in ch-4 sp, ch 4, 1 dc in 3^rd ch of beg ch 7, turn – 2 dc, 7 sc, 6 x ch-3, 2 x ch-4

Row 55: Repeat row 7

Row 56: (final row) Ch 1, [2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc] in ch-4 sp, * [2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc] in each ch-3 sp around, [2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc] in last ch-4 sp. Fasten off yarn and weave in all threads.

Finishing

Your shawl will benefit from blocking to open up the lace stitches. Lay project out to finished size and pull gently into shape. Pin in place and spray lightly with water and leave to dry. You can wet block shawl if desired – check your yarn fiber instructions. Add tassels if you wish.
