Did you know that Halloween originated from the ancient and mystical Celtic festival called Samhain (pronounced sow-en) marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. I am delighted to introduce Samhain Shawl, a triangle shaped shawl creating a wide wing span with a width of approx. 86in/218cm.

I used two skeins of Green Elephant Yarn , the minute I saw that PINK I knew I had to use it…….it looks amazing with the more neutral speckled Cosmos colourway. Fiona’s yarn is a dream to crochet with – a soft buttery merino that glides with the hook:)

2 skeins of your favourite fingering weight yarn in two contrast colours, is all that is needed to show off this light and lacy triangle shawl. A wide wingspan to curl around your neck and shoulders. An easy make using dc, puff stitches and shells that will keep your interest as you crochet.

We took the photographs for the shawl in a lovely village in South East Ireland called Passage East, and the wind chill was dramatic! My beautiful model was a trooper as always! November came so quickly this year. October was a bright gentle month, and suddenly the evenings are dark and wet again. I always feel the need to use bright cheerful colours at this time of year……..I have a really REALLY bright pattern release coming soon as well!

I hope you love this design as much as I do, and be sure to use the tag #samhainshawl on Instagram to show me your version of my design!
